Once you're there
Our favourite tips for making the most of your time in Rome.

GETTING AROUND ROME
Rome is a wonderful city to explore on foot, especially in the historic centre. For longer distances, taxis are a convenient option. We recommend downloading the inTaxi app before your trip, or using Uber directly from your phone. If you have a reservation or a fixed appointment, allow a little extra time: Rome traffic can be unpredictable. Comfortable shoes are also a must - the city's beautiful cobblestone streets are part of its charm!
EXPLORE ROME'S NEIGHBOURHOODS
Of course, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Spanish Steps are essential, but make time to wander through Rome's most charming neighbourhoods too. Explore Trastevere for picturesque streets and lively evenings, Monti for boutiques, cafes and a local atmosphere, and the Jewish Ghetto for history, architecture and fantastic Roman food.
ENJOY A LONG ROMAN LUNCH
Lunch in Rome should never be rushed. Find a traditional trattoria, order a plate of carbonara, cacio e pepe, amatriciana or gricia, add some seasonal Roman vegetables and enjoy a glass of local wine. For a classic Roman lunch in the historic centre, Roscioli and Armando al Pantheon are two much-loved choices. Reservations are highly recommended.
EXPERIENCE THE ITALIAN APERITIVO
One of our favourite Italian traditions! Around 6:00-7:00 pm, find a beautiful bar, order an Aperol Spritz, Campari Spritz, Negroni or a glass of Prosecco and enjoy the atmosphere before dinner. For amazing cocktails, we recommend Clorofilla - Cucina e Distillati, close to Campo de' Fiori: a stylish spot known for creative signature drinks and a sophisticated atmosphere.

TAKE A COOKING CLASS
Learn how to recreate a little piece of Italy at home! Join a private or small-group pasta-making, pizza-making or tiramisu class, or combine a market visit with a hands-on cooking experience. It is a wonderful activity for couples, families or groups of wedding guests.
A SPECIAL ROMAN DINNER
For an authentic evening in the heart of the city, try Rosina Cucina di Casa in Vicolo delle Grotte, near Campo de' Fiori. Inspired by the warmth and flavours of a Roman grandmother's kitchen, it is a lovely choice for traditional Roman dishes, comforting flavours and a relaxed dinner in the historic centre.

WATCH THE SUNSET FROM ABOVE
Rome is even more magical from above. For beautiful panoramic views, visit the Pincio Terrace, the Orange Garden on the Aventine Hill, the Gianicolo or the panoramic terraces of the Vittoriano. For something extra special, book drinks at one of Rome's elegant rooftop bars and enjoy an aperitivo overlooking the domes and rooftops of the Eternal City.
DISCOVER ROME AFTER DARK
Rome has a completely different atmosphere in the evening. Take a walk after dinner and see the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona and St Peter's Basilica beautifully illuminated. Early morning and late evening are also wonderful times to enjoy some of the city's most famous places with fewer crowds.
TRY THE REAL ROMAN FLAVOURS
Beyond pasta, make sure you try suppli, Roman-style pizza, artisanal gelato and a classic Italian espresso. For something sweet, start the morning with a cornetto and cappuccino at a local cafe. Remember: in Italy, cappuccino is traditionally a breakfast drink!
LEAVE TIME FOR LA DOLCE VITA
Do not try to see everything. Some of the best moments in Rome happen when you have no plans at all. Sit at a cafe, wander through a quiet piazza, browse small boutiques, stop for gelato and simply enjoy the city. Rome is not only a place to visit - it is a place to experience.
